Storm causes postponement of junior high gym show
One of the day’s first storm casualties is the Junior High School gym show postponed to Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Junior College gym. Housing in Erie appears less tight with five vacant Main Street houses found by City Assessor Don Wells during rounds. Chanute police and County Attorney Forsyth questioned two women and a man, arrested yesterday on theft charges, after a chase south of Thayer led to their capture. The trio, who gave fictitious names, had clothing and whiskey in their car. Morris of Tulsa claimed he drove and parked, while the women stole items from Chanute, Coffeyville and Lola.

Hall seeks Missouri deadline delay for trucker licenses

Tractor Falls On Couple Near Cherryvale
Mr and Mrs Clell Richardson of near Cherryvale narrowly escaped serious injury when a tractor slipped into a partly dug cistern trapping them. Mrs Richardson suffered a crushed heel and was taken to Independence hospital while Richardson was uninjured. Dee Rector, the brother in law, helped in the rescue after the tractor fell into the cistern with them inside.

Senate Approves High School Aid Plan For Kansas
