Propeller detaches from B29 during Skyrocket test flight
A propeller flew off the No. 4 engine of a four engine B29 during a test launch carrying the Douglas D558-II Skyrocket. Both aircraft landed safely at Muroc Army Base after the propeller damaged the fuselage. Skyrocket pilot John B. McKay and bomber crew returned to base uninjured.

Engineer Rescues Tod on Fast Moving Train Tracks
In Los Angeles a train engineer and crew saved a two year old girl who dashed onto the tracks after her dog. Frank Meyers, 50, grabbed the child from the front of the locomotive as it sped, then the freight halted forty feet later. A woman returned the girl to her mother as the fireman described using the whistle cord in the moment. The dog fled the scene.

Negligent Homicide Conviction in Lola Baby Death
In CLATHE Kansas an 18 year old youth was convicted of negligent homicide in the death last month of a baby girl from a highway crash. Fred I. Twiehaus drove at speeds between 65 and 95 mph causing a collision with Rex A. Moore Jr. of Iola whose eight month old Peggy Sue died. Motion for a new trial may be filed by March 27.
