Mother and children rescued from ex-convict kidnapper
State police freed a 29 year old mother and her three children after a 20 hour captivity by Richard A. Payne 23 who sought the release of his former cellmate Burton Junior Post. Payne surrendered at a Logan roadblock after firing at officers and held the Baldwin family hostage at their South Charleston home.

Erie man finds gas in water well near Main Street
Don Wells of Erie reports Wes Whitworth drilled a water well at 3rd and Main to supply a live bait tank. The 24 foot well yields cool water with a distinct gas taste and smell, but Whitworth hopes the gas will pass with use. Wells recalls two old gas wells in Erie and notes past failed health uses of park water.

Docking Plans 900000 Funding for KU Medical Center Addition
