Improved Math Instruction Goal of Teacher Program
National Science Foundation sponsors a math instruction improvement program for Charate elementary teachers. Dr. Forest Colthrop of Kansas State College introduced the effort at Murray Hill. The plan aims to update teachers on new mathematics, analyze programs for a materials center, evaluate curriculum improvements, and strengthen ties with the junior college. Carl Robb of Neosho County Community Junior College will lead a six week summer workshop and work with teachers during the school year. Twelve teachers will attend the summer session. all participate in in service training. The $55,000 cost is federally funded. Fort Scott Independence Iola and Parsons are also in the program with four other area schools.
