A Sedalia mother Nina Mae Schweickart 39 died on arrival at White man Air Force Base hospital after a collision with a westbound Missouri Pacific passenger train at a crossing. Her 16 year old daughter Lois Moon and 2 year old son Mark Allen Schweickart were listed in critical condition with skull fractures and other injuries. The train engineer C L Long of Sedalia reported he braked and blew the whistle as the car was struck, sending the occupants from the vehicle. The husband was transferred to Amarillo Texas when the accident occurred.
