Palmdale car crash ends with sale of vehicle
In Palmdale California Floyd Marvin tried to help Richard Monia whose car stalled. The car started and leaped forward hitting fences and a power pole then burning. Palmdale lost power for 20 minutes while police assessed damage. Monia sold the car for $50 to a bystander. In Washington Nixon proposed 1.1 billion in rural development aid for next year as part of a 16 billion federal revenue plan.

In a routine road check north of Thayer, Highway Patrol officers arrested Dr. Erby Sprouse Jr., 35, sought by the FBI for bad checks and interstate flight. He was taken to the county jail for extradition to South Carolina, then transferred by a U S marshal. He used the alias Glendon Richard Hale.

The Chanute chapter of the AAUW and United Church Women worked with Carl Druart and his sociology class to prepare and distribute about 2100 questionnaires in Unified District 413.
