Fire kills four in Lisbon Falls home blaze
A man Lester Simmons about 35 and three of his four step children died when fire trapped them on the upper floor of a two story residence in Lisbon Falls Maine. His wife Sara Parker Simmons in her 30s survived with burns and shock after leaping from a window. A fourth child was with relatives. Officials suspect a hallway stove started the fire.

An aerial search was under way for Rev John Chambers a flying missionary whose light plane was forced down Monday in desolate mountain country about 130 miles southeast of Barrow Alaska The Rev Chambers associated press correspondent for the arctic ocean area radioed a distress message stating he was forced to land his single engine plane. $72,000 Stolen Bank Robbery In Massapequa Captured Later
Police nabbed four men after a three minute armed robbery at the Security National Bank in Massapequa Long Island. 12 Year Old Girl Rescued From 30 Foot Well
Barbara Lawson, 12, of Le Grand Iowa, was rescued after 30 minutes clinging to a rusted pipe in an abandoned 30 foot well on the family farm. She suffered a skinned knee and exposure but was reported stable at home. Fireman Fuhrman Parks descended the shaft and pulled her to safety with help from fellow volunteers.
