In Topeka Robert Spruill reports a car break in with a bottle labeled Canadian whiskey that proved to be rat poison. He also lost a $90 stereo tape player $60 in tapes and a carrying case. Across the globe Paris and London report new gold prices and political tensions while Enterprise returns to sea after a deadly fire.
President Nixon says U S casualties have doubled since the current Viet Cong and North Vietnamese offensive began and that further attacks will not be tolerated. He hints at possible moves including resuming bombing and asserts the United States will not accept continued violations of the Paris peace framework or rising casualties while talks proceed.
President Nixon expressed cautious optimism that a four power Middle East conference could help guarantee Arab Israeli peace and eyed a broader U S Soviet summit. He said Paris talks may move to a second phase with hard bargaining on core differences while Vietnam setbacks prompt possible troop withdrawal studies.

The NCCJC board approved an 80-student dormitory project on campus. They instructed campus architect James Blessing to file a HUD loan application by April 1 for a two-story coed dormitory in the northeast campus area with 40-year repayment from dorm profits.
A March 25 hearing at 9 a.m. in Chanute’s Central Park Pavilion will revisit the plan to relocate Stark State Bank to Chanute under the name Security State Bank of Chanute. The nine member board would include Chanute residents Ro bert D. McGregor Dean Sutcliffe Gus E. Nelson John T. Kirkwood and Wichita residents W. R. Murfin I. W. Murfin and Milford J. Peterson. Proposed capitalization totals 300 000 plus a separately owned building costing about 175 000 on a Cherry and Western half block site.
