Public polio vaccination clinics announced for March 14 in Buffalo Altoona Fredonia and Neodesha from 8 30 to 10 a m. for children age one through four with a second round set for April 11. Five Horses Poisoned at Dr Webb Farm
Five trotting horses at Dr G Farrell Webb's farm north of Clathe Kansas were poisoned by arsenic. Four died in November and Hickory Chuck, the most valuable, died about ten days ago. Webb suspects foul play or possible insanity. Hickory Chuck, seven, had won purses at Chicago and New York tracks.

More than twelve Chanute car owners reported losses after a Saturday night pilfering spree. Train Car Crash Fatal to Erie Man Nesbitt
Nesbitt ERIE man Frank Nesbitt 48 died after his car struck a Katy freight train at a railroad crossing near Erie. The 5:15 p.m. collision at 55 mph knocked the car about 33 feet. Bullet Wound Fatal For Salina Youth
Salina news reports Clarence Cole, 16, died three hours after a .22 bullet entered his head. The hunting accident occurred about 16 miles southwest near Brookville. Willis Lee, 15, and Clarence were with others when two shots were fired. Cole was found propped against a fence with a wound from his automatic rifle. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Fear.

The freighter Washington Mail broke in two during a Gulf of Alaska storm, its forward section torn off by heavy seas. Sixty crew and passengers were rescued by the rescue ship Gen. H. B. Two Persons Killed South of Lawrence
An automobile left U S 59 at Pleasant Grove eight miles south of Lawrence and struck a tree killing May Hurst twelve, of Lawrence and Elmer Boyd twenty three, of Topeka. Elmer Boyd died at a Lawrence hospital hours after the crash. Injured were Elmer Robinson twenty one and Yola Scott twenty five, both of Lawrence with Robinson in critical condition.
