Ink stain removal from mahogany and more tips

Ink stains on mahogany can be removed by placing 4 or 5 drops of nitre in water, dabbing with a feather, then wiping with a cold wet cloth to prevent a white spot. For mirror cleaning, apply a thin starch or a paste of whiting and water, dry, then polish with tissue. To keep an omelet from collapsing, beat in a pinch of powdered sugar and corn starch with the yolks.
