Kansas housing drive urged by state official

KP&L to Raise Natural Gas Rates for Meade Clark Field
Kansas Power & Light will raise average residential gas bills by 85 cents monthly to cover 5.4 million in higher gas costs from a new Meade Clark counties field. The state corporation commission approved the pass-through though the exact gas volume from the wells is unknown. A pipeline gathering system is being built to deliver the fuel and the increase starts when gas is delivered.

Violent winds strike Chanute area during brief storm
Five to ten minutes of violent winds toppled trees and cut power to areas south of Chanute and at 17 and 19 S Highland. A tree at 402 S Lincoln disrupted service to Chanute Recreation and Mills Supply. Wind gusts reached 64 mph at 12 33 a m at Martin Johnson Airport, with damage levels defined by the National Weather Service scale.
