Buffalo Man Dies In Fredonia Crash
James Thouv enell of Buffalo was killed when the pickup he drove rolled over near highways K39 and K96 north of Fredonia. Hubert Harris, Wilson County sheriff, investigated. The 1954 Ford was a total loss and the body was sent to Cason Funeral Home in Fredonia. Five people died in Kansas traffic accidents over the weekend per the Associated Press. Dr. Joseph R. Henning and his wife Dorothy, of Ottawa, died when their car hit Valencia bridge on Interstate 70 west of Topeka after a sudden maneuver near a semi truck. Truck driver Marius J. Bledsoe of Manchester, Kan., was unhurt. A teenage pair, Patricia Elaine Hughes of Joplin and Gary Secrist of Galena, were killed after a collision and being struck by another vehicle while aiding the injured. Miss Hughes died at the scene. Secrist died later in a Pittsburg hospital. Topekan John P. Kennedy, 25, was killed when a car failed to negotiate a curve on U S 24 and hit a utility pole east of Perry. his brother David was injured.

A seven year-old California boy died at a Wichita hospital from injuries from a plane crash near Quinter Kansas on Friday. Peter Schmidt son of Robert F. Schmidt and wife from Los Alamitos was killed while his parents and younger sister were injured when the plane struck a utility line and flipped. The Schmidt family and their 17 month old daughter Kelly were reported in good condition at a Quinter hospital.
