Two Injured in Area Crashes Reported
Two persons were injured in area traffic accidents yesterday per highway patrol. Herbert Haralson of Wichita had minor injuries after his 1949 Pontiac left the road at the K39 US 75 junction west of Chanute and overturned about 2 am. Doris Maxim York of Neodesha, 23, was hurt in a one car crash on US 75 three miles north of Buffalo around 1:30 am. Chanute and Ya es Center troopers investigated separate crashes on K39 and US 75 with damage estimated at 50 dollars per vehicle.

Three Drivers Arrested Near Chanute for DUI
Three men were arrested on drunk driving related charges near Chanute. Ivan Wheeler, formerly of Chanute now in Wichita, was picked up by police at 18th and Santa Fe around 9:40 p.m. Saturday and released on a $150 bond. Harley R. Tonkinson of Chanute R 3 was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. for driving while intoxicated and transporting an open bottle. he pleaded guilty and was fined $150 plus $5 costs. James L. Shumaker of Texarkana Ark., was arrested about 1 a.m. on US 169 and pleaded guilty. he received 40 days in county jail.
