Three-county chase ends after roadside incident near Parsons

A Chanute resident from Florida prompted Tuesday’s pursuit across Labette Neosho and Wilson counties. Gunshots wounded the suspect Brentt I. Gilder Jr. 38 in both legs. A 79 year old Liberal Missouri woman and a Kansas Highway Patrolman were injured lightly. Deputy Mick Tucker reported two Parsons residents heard moans in a restroom then encountered the men.

Weather area forecast and a pursuing chase ending in a shooting

Clear to partly cloudy and warmer through Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A separate report recounts two Parsons men pursuing Gilder after a woman was assaulted in a park restroom. Gilder led them on a chase across highways including U S 160 and K37, a ditch fire, and a knife confrontation before being shot by Steve Renfro after buckshot ricocheted. He survived and was treated at Wilson County Hospital then Wichita. Gilder had recently moved to Chanute from Erie.

KSCP Authorized to Hire After Restraining Order Lift
