Wheat reaches heading stage in Kansas report
The Kansas Crop and Livestock Reporting Service says by week’s end most fields are at the heading stage with about 55 percent in the turning stage. This compares to 50 percent last year and a 10-year average of 60 percent turning. Only a few southeast and south central fields are ripe. Harvest is expected to begin in southern counties this week and be in full swing by the weekend.
