Attorney Named For Duane Pope murder suspect
Duane Pope 22 of Roxbury Kansas has an attorney appointed to represent him in federal bank robbery charges stemming from the June 4 Big Springs Nebraska robbery in which three people were killed and a fourth wounded. U.S. District Court Judge John W. Oliver appointed J Whitfield Moody public defender for Pope as long as he remains in Missouri. Pope is held on $100000 bond with a preliminary hearing set for June 25. Prosecutors weigh federal versus state prosecution with potential death penalty in either court. Two Men Charged After Lincoln and Main Disturbance
Police arrested Pat Walsh 22 of Chanute and John Aultman 29 of Iola at 2 10 a m Sunday on fighting and disturbing the peace following a disturbance at Lincoln and Main. Walsh released on $50 bond Aultman held on $50 bond with an added charge of using profane language. Hearings set for Friday in police court.
