Crowds estimated above 1,000 gathered at Santa Fe Park for yesterday’s boat races. More than 30 boats competed with entrants from Arkansas City Manhattan Riley Independence Coffeyville Tulsa Emporia Erie Iola and Jenks Oklahoma. A meeting to form a local boat club was set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bell Body Shop. A race is scheduled next Sunday at Fort Scott under Kansas Outboard Racing Association rules with five classes.
