Along School Road near Mount Sterling in North Carolina 18 Haywood County students will switch from Tennessee schools to North Carolina schools as Interstate 40 opens. For two years the state paid about $7,000 yearly to fund tuition subsidies after Mount Sterling’s one room school closed and local roads discouraged bus travel.
