Two men held Bill Fowler and his family prisoners Tuesday night and early today. they fled with about 11500 after locking the family in the Citizens State Bank vault. Fowler and his wife Wadean and son Joe were freed by Sheriff Carroll Lawson.

Missing Man's Body Found in Barn Near Effingham
The body of 60 year old Dean L Fricker, missing from Holton for over a week, was found Tuesday in a barn eight miles southwest of Effingham. Acting Atchison County coroner Bailey P Waggner ruled death by own action. Fricker had been living with Walter Wilson in Holton and drove off in Wilson's car July 17. The farm owner was John Gibbons.
