In Gridley Kansas AP report 15 year old Douglas Schneider was found dead after being strangled by a rope from a tree house in his backyard. His 11 year old brother Randy left the tree house early and went to bed. Douglas body was discovered Saturday morning.

Traffic Crash Near Thayer Injures Driver. Two Crashes Reported
Undersheriff Lester Marts and the highway patrol investigated a collision on US 169 one and a half miles north of Thayer a 7 15 p m Saturday. A 1950 GMC pickup driven by Earnest Henderson and a 1956 Buick driven by Paul Bowden collided. Henderson was taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital for observation and later released with a minor back injury. Damages were estimated at 150 to 200 dollars for the car and 150 dollars for the pickup. Earlier Saturday Marts investigated a second Thayer crash at Harms laundry involving a 1955 Ford pickup driven by Orville Holtzman and a 1951 Chevrolet pickup driven by Ernie Harms. no injuries with about 150 dollars damage to the Holtzman truck.

A Knox City Missouri family of four died and four others were injured when their station wagon struck a bridge railing on Missouri Highway 36 thirteen miles west of Macon. Orville Miller 42 the driver Lena 34 and son Gary 9 were critically injured. The dead were James Brooks 60 his wife and two sons Donald 20 and Elvin 13. The accident occurred Sunday.
