TOPEKA AP A 12 per cent drop from a year ago in wheat in storage on Kansas farms at the start of January is reported by the Kansas Crop and Livestock Reporting Service. Farm wheat stocks totaled 31 532 000 bushels, 17 per cent of the 1963 crop and 40 per cent below the 1958 average. Sorghum stocks rose to 50 505 000 bushels, 1 per cent above last year and the fifth largest on record for the date. Corn totaled 34 776 000 bushels, 15 per cent less than a year ago and 18 per cent below average. Barley stocks were 1 938 000 bushels, the smallest for the date since 1954. Hay stocks reached 2 688 000 tons, down from 3 176 000 tons a year ago.

Mrs. Gloria Greeley about 40 and children Stephen about 4 and Victoria Diane about 12 died in a house fire at Ft Sill Wednesday night. Sgt Patrick Greeley Sr., the father, was away at the time. A soldier’s wife and two of four children perished in the blaze.

He allegedly could not see due to his lights going out, hitting Harold Arthur’s parked 1940 Chevrolet in front of the Arthur home. Arthur’s car rear sustained about 25 dollars in damage.

Speed Timing Unit For Traffic Control
The city bought a radar speed timing unit for police traffic control from Wichita Police Supply Co. The two component system weighs 17 pounds and runs from a car cigarette lighter. It can scan cars in either direction with a 1600 foot range and be operated by one officer or with multiple patrol cars. The unit replaces an older electrical timer, reduces setup time, and records maximum speeds for enforcement. The cost, after credit for the old timer, was 1005 dollars.

Water Drums Stocked in Chanute Fallout Shelters
