Student Norman Seibel Found Dead in Abandoned Well
Norman Seibel, a 24 year old medical student from Hillsboro Kansas, was found dead in an abandoned 25 foot well near Holliday. A penciled note on a 3x5 card was found with the body and police are checking handwriting before labeling the death as suicide. A .22 revolver with six shots was recovered. four bullets fired. Hunter James Earnshaw, 19, discovered the scene and alerted authorities. The note references Tolstoy and War and Peace. Seibel had been missing since December 19 from the University of Kansas Medical Center. The coroner described marks on the body as consistent with a fall into the well. Identification was made by Dr. Clarke Wescoe, dean of the medical school.
