In Guayaquil Ecuador two surgeons from Peter Bent Brigham Hospital report performing the first human limb transplant from a deceased donor to a living patient. The 28 year old Ecuadorian sailor received a hand and forearm from a recently died donor. The operation followed expert guidance from Boston doctors. The team characterized the procedure as the first homograft of a human limb in medical history and noted the patient was progressing well.
STICKNEY England AP Tom Wilson 76 a farmer drove his car into a village pond and spent eight hours up to his neck in icy water before rescuers arrived. Wilson said the car door would not open and he had to wait until dawn for help. Hospital authorities report exposure and serious condition.
Kansas traffic death log records an additional fatality for February 1964, noting 89 deaths in 1964 and 36 through 9 a.m. Monday. The AP file indicates one previously unreported fatality, reflecting a comparative count with 1963 figures.
Hoffa's former personal aide Lawrence N. Steinberg testified he could not recall seeing government witness Edward G. Partin in Hoffa's 1962 Nashville hotel suite during the conspiracy trial. A call Saturday to police claimed an eight year old was shooting at passing cars with a BB gun on North Evergreen. Officers rushed to the scene and found the report partly correct. the boy was actually firing a pop gun at cars.
Fire yesterday extensively damaged a 1962 Buick owned by E. E. Lofgren of 417 North Forest. Investigators believe a fuel line or carburetor choke caused fuel to flood the engine as the car idled after being moved from the garage to warm for church. Firemen logged the alarm at 9:20 a.m.
The Santa Fe Oil Flyer hit a hand car mounted crane near Village Creek. Sheriff Neely and track supervisor C H Van Gundy investigated. the crane cable stretched across the track and hooked to the far rail. No damage of consequence reported. the crane had been used for bridge work and was set off the track by crewmen Friday night.

Dallas AP reports the third juror in Jack Ruby murder trial is Mrs. Mildred McCollum a secretary and mother of six who saw part of the televised Oswald shooting. Defense pursues a Texas Supreme Court ruling on whether TV witnesses are ineligible jurors.
Lt Edward A Dickson, a Navy pilot stationed near Lemore, fell 1000 feet when his A4 Skyhawk parachute failed to open during a training flight. He landed in snow near Bishop, California, breaking a leg and later saying he still dreads driving but plans to return to flying. Rescuers found him wrapped in the uninflated chute for warmth.
An epidemic of three day measles swept Royster Junior High with 58 absent at opening and 71 with symptoms by noon. Nine of twelve eighth grade players were out, four of five starters missing, leaving Dean Oliver as the only starter at school. Royster’s eighth grade squad may forfeit its Southeast Kansas Junior High League tournament opener against Iola.

Daytime highs were forecast in the 40s with the southwest reaching 50. A new cold front was due to move into western areas tonight and spread across the state, but temperatures were not expected to stay severe.
