Doctors Lost On Mercy Flight Search In Snow
A 20 man team including two doctors searched the Littleton area for Dr. Ralph E. Miller and Dr. Robert E. Quinn after their mercy flight from Berlin to Lebanon disappeared Saturday. Ground crews used toboggans as aircraft from the Air Force, National Guard, Civil Air Patrol and others scanned the area amid freezing temps and fading daylight.

Five die in fiery crash near Callahan Florida
A northbound 1956 car carrying five people collided head on with a truck near Callahan at about 4 am. One victim was a Marine, John A. Marlow, 22, of Camp Lejeune. The others included a woman, a girl aged 14 to 25, a man about 45, and a boy about 10. The woman driver likely dozed, the truck was driven by Howard Lewis East of Cedartown, Georgia. East survived and was hospitalized.

Night Watchman Beaten at Kansas City Garage
A 76 year old night watchman Jacob W. McMains was brutally beaten at the Northeast Garage by burglars. He suffered 11 wounds to head and right arm from a tire tool. He is listed in poor condition at General Hospital. No money was taken though the cash register was opened but empty.

Family of Five Rescued After 3 Days on Beacon

A shrimp boat crew saved them Saturday afternoon after their 26 foot cruiser broke up in heavy seas seven miles from downtown Corpus Christi. Willie Ladey, age 56, missing from Valhalla, D. C. for 33 years, has been located near Waterville Kansas living as Frank Robertson with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Walker. Two Rescued From Beach After Cliff Rescue
In Seaside Oregon two boys were saved from a rugged 100 foot cliff as nighttime rescues faced incoming tides. Charles Kenney 17 Netarts suffered a shoulder injury and a cut hand after a 35 foot slide. Dr Ralph Perkins aided the rescue with a rope signal before all three were lifted to safety as the tide closed in.

Fire Department Busy Weekend With No Losses
The Chanute area fire department logged four runs Saturday and two Sunday with no fire losses reported. One call handled smoldering truck remains east of Chanute after entry to town, another to wash down gasoline soaked ground at a bulk plant. Fire Chief C W Brennan noted bulk plant operator Kenneth Chestnut said a tank leak caused 4000 gallons of ethyl gasoline loss.
