Iron Horse to Grace Chanute Santa Fe Park

A restored steam locomotive No. 762 from the Santa Fe will be moved to a new rail and tie foundation in Chanute's Santa Fe park. The 115 ton engine with tender, retired July 10, 1952, may be moved on a low boy or laid on temporary track sections for final positioning. Other Kansas cities have recently received similar gifts for parks.

Death Takes A Citti 81

A Citti 81 well known furniture dealer died this morning at 7 45 at Neosho Memorial Hospital after treatment. Born Marseille Dec 25 1873 he came to America as a boy, lived in Philadelphia and Washington D C, married Lena Braun June 25 1895, moved to St Joseph and later to area in 1911 to open Citti French Creamery then C C Furniture store. Survivors include son Charles four daughters three grandsons two great grandchildren and two brothers. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Resuscitator Fund Drive Aids Two Victims Simultaneously

Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges sponsor a fund drive to buy a two headed resuscitator costing about 625 dollars. It can revive two accident victims at once and aid cases from carbon monoxide poisoning to drowning. The device will be displayed at The Sport Shop and donations may be left there or given to lodge members. Committee members are E. L. Dutfield, Lester Marts and T. L. Baker.

Band Concert Wednesday At Senior High Auditorium

The Senior High School Junior College concert band will give a free program of popular music at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Band director Kenneth Tebow notes movie music marches and selections from well known comedies, with the madrigal singers featured in some pieces. The Southeast Kansas Chorale Festival will be held Friday at Fort Scott with about 100 students from here, guest conductor Harold Decker of the University of Wichita. A Fort Scott Memorial Hall concert follows at 7:30 with two numbers from each town and eight massed chorus pieces.

High School Aid Bill Moves Through House Panel

Fire destroys former school building in Sawyer Kas

A former grade school built in 1910 and used recently as a school bus garage burned last night in Sawyer. Firefighters battled the blaze as the old structure was engulfed and time of discovery remains under investigation. Nearby properties reported no damage.
