Fire kills two in Missouri and Kansas City apartments
In Kansas City a 20 year old man Allen Schwarzschild died in a blaze at a new third floor apartment at 321 East 33rd Street. Fire Chief Arvil Rowe said a cigarette on a divan started the fire. Ten other tenants escaped without injury. In Warrensburg a couple, C. R. Thompson and Wanda Thompson, died in a fire likely sparked by a cigarette left on a living room divan. Mrs. Thompson burned in a bedroom and Mr. Thompson was found in a bathtub. The fire damaged the living room floor with about 400 dollars in losses.

Street Littering Charge Against Driver With Teen Passengers
