Parsons Arson Case Information Filed
A transcript of proceedings and information in the arson case over the destruction of the Plantation Club near Parsons was filed by Labette County Attorney William K. Ong. Defendants Bill Mendenhall Harry Junior Shurtz and John Hamilton of Chanute face second and third degree arson charges for the November 20 fire. Pint-sized Bandit Robs Carl Junction Bank for $2000
A 5 foot tall bandit, wearing overalls, robbed Citizens Bank at noon in Carl Junction, taking about $2000 from teller Mary Louise Harry. He fled in a 1954 or 1955 light green Plymouth. two residents pursued and traced the car to Webb City, but witnesses’ names were not learned.

The FBI announced the arrest of two men in the Southwest City Missouri bank robbery that netted $50,838. Jack Cope, 29, was taken near Delmar Arkansas. Glen Howard Potter, 53, was captured on his farm near Southwest City. The FBI also sought Frank Haley, about 30, and charged Margaret Mae Potter with receiving part of the loot. Teacher Injured in East Chanute Car Crash
Leanna teacher Jean Vaughn 23 of 918 S Lafayette suffered a minor hip injury when her car was rear ended by a Booneville Missouri bakery truck on K39 seven miles east of Chanute.
