Poor Day For Police In Pittsburg Kansas
In Pittsburg Kansas two police cars were demolished and a third damaged as three patrolmen were slightly injured. A cruiser collided with a Frisco freight train, another spun into a utility pole, and a third crashed into a booster tower causing a six hour power outage. Patrolmen Dale Holroyd Tom Cochrane and auxiliary Clay Wilson were hospitalized. Charles E Hallacy escaped serious injury.

Check-kiting scheme nets guilty plea in Wichita case
Hunneell Kanman and Carvel Moffitt pleaded guilty in U S District Court to defrauding Kansas State Bank of Wichita of more than 47 thousand dollars in a check-kiting scheme from 1965 to 1966. Tom A Reardon was moved to a different district. Four bank accounts were used and float time allowed insufficient funds checks to move between banks. A presentence report was ordered on Moffitt and his bond continued.
