Compounded Tragedy in Neodesha Break-In Probed
The Wilson County sheriff's office continues a search for suspects who broke into the George Robert home near Neodesha the day after a father and son died in a train car accident west of town. The mother and George Jr. were away in Wichita when the break-in occurred. Missing items include a boat, oars, an electric blender, a wall can opener, a new gun rack, and presents. Entrance was gained by prying a rear window and unlocking the back door. The boat was kept in a granary.

Katy Line Fate Nears End for Parson to Junction City Run
The Katy railway once carried two daily passenger trains through here on the Parsons to Junction City route. Declining patronage reduced service to one daily round trip before abandonment. An ICC ruling 18 years ago allowed elimination of the Piqua to Junction City segment. The Missouri Pacific later bought the Piqua to Humboldt line. the junction line was among Katy’s first two. Levi Parsons founded the line running along the Neosho River through Burkington and Emporia to Junction City in 1870.
