Pilot study funds sought to test extended school year plan

Contributions toward a $400,000 burn treatment unit at the University of Kansas Medical Center total about $50,000 including a memorial fund by relatives of Kathy Kihm of Chanute. Kihm, 19, died in October from burns after a Lawrence apartment fire.
