President Johnson says the United States is prepared to discuss any points the North Vietnamese raise and emphasizes a willingness to seek resolutions with both sides’ concessions. He also comments on the U S Soviet consular treaty, urging Senate approval to protect Americans traveling to the Soviet Union and noting hopes for bipartisan cooperation.
KAAP work begins Monday on a 14.7 million rehabilitation and construction project east of Parsons. Martin K. Eby announced the contract signing ceremony at Parsons city hall with Col. W G Kratz and National Gypsum officials present. Ralph O. Rogers will oversee work as resident engineer. Gerald A. Vulliamy named as assistant. Reactivation was announced December 29 with production expected in November. plant on standby since 1956. About 900 to 1,000 workers may be employed over about a year.

A ground force of about 8000 began a search and destroy operation in war zone D, with 14 Viet Cong reported killed and light U S casualties. South Vietnam released 30 prisoners to North Vietnam at the Ben Hai bridge, two choosing to stay behind. the move marked Tet gestures.

New York AP reports all four surviving infants of Mrs. Lionel Harris born in a quintuplets birth were listed in satisfactory condition today.
Six counties were added to the Southeast Kansas Tuberculosis Hospital service, increasing the district to 30 counties. The new counties are Chase Lyon Osage Shawnee Jefferson and Leavenworth boosting the hospital reach to cover well over half of Kansas population.
