A man testing a late model car at a Clovis used-car lot vanished. Amarillo police traced the car he left to a Lubbock lot, which had been stolen from Hobbs, New Mexico. Hobbs police sought the vehicle's origin as the search spread across four cities.
Washington AP reports the Civil Service Commission will accept applications for the Neodesha Kansas postmaster post. The yearly salary is 7190 dollars. Applications must be postmarked no later than January 26.

Out-of-state undergrads pay $50 more, averaging $337 at universities and $210 at state colleges. Out-of-state graduate fees stay at $182 for universities and $142 for colleges. Summer session fees also rise. A dissenting regent called it taxation without representation.
In Salina Kansas the Board of Regents voted 7 to 1 to abandon the historic Kansas policy of free tuition at state universities. Whitley Austin a Salina board member criticized the decision calling tuition a tax and urging statutory action. The council proposed waivers for needy students limited to five percent of freshmen, risking $200000 yearly revenue and signaling a shift toward selective admissions. Kansas State University President Dr James McCain warned against politicizing university funding and urged a crash building program to meet capital needs.
