Three Utah Children Die Hiking in Waterfall Canyon
In Ogden Utah three young friends Shauna Southwick 9 Mark Way 9 and Bonnie Ross 8 disappeared during a hike in Waterfall Canyon. After a search involving parents neighbors a jeep posse and a mountain rescue unit the bodies were found at the base of a 500 foot cliff. Mark and Bonnie were dead at discovery Shauna died en route to a hospital. Ice coated the cliff due to cold temperatures and limited water at the summit.

Woman rescues dog from Potomac floe near Jefferson Memorial

Erie Woman Dies in Crash Near Highway US 59
Pauline Shellhorn 60 of Erie R2 died from a neck injury when her car was broadside by a westbound Scott vehicle three miles west of the K47 junction with US 59. Four others were injured including Doris Shellhorn, Dor is, Dr. D L Scott and his wife with a 2 year old son. The Scott car carried a 1 year old daughter who was unhurt. The Shellhorn car was entering the highway from the south on a snow slick county road. The highway was dry and clear. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. The Pierce Funeral Home of Erie is in charge.

Five Die in Mt Vernon Crash as Seven Injured
Mt Vernon Illinois five people were killed and seven injured in a two car collision Wednesday night. Victims include Mary Shelton 42 Joyce Shelton 8 Kay Shelton 11 Chester Shelton 12 and Kenneth Lewis 19 all of Mt Vernon. Floyd Shelton 48 and Larry Martin 18 were drivers in the wreck with Lewis as a passenger in Martins car.
