Two Kansas Youths Picked Up in Omaha

A 13 year old girl and her 15 year old boyfriend from Kingman Kansas were found disheveled and hungry in downtown Omaha. They were taken to the county youth center and spent Christmas Day there while Kansas authorities arranged their return. Lt. L K Smith said the girl ran away because they were going steady and her parents objected.

Yates Center Man Killed in Accident

Yates Center Kansas Charles Wilhite 37 was fatally injured last night on U S 75 eight miles north of Yates Center He was hooked to a wreck er truck to a car damaged in an earlier crash when the wrecker was hit by a car driven by August Carl Meyers 61 of near Burlington Meyers and his wife were taken to a Burlington hospital The earlier accident involved Royce Muzingo of Topeka whose car struck a steer on the highway.

Tulsa Man Charged With Theft of Tires

Tulsa police charged John C. Jones with stealing two truck tires from Charles Woodruff in Tulsa. Jones admitted the theft and agreed to extradition for trial. He had been held on a vagrancy charge and was to be returned to the county by Sheriff Lee Montgomery.

Low Water Dam Completed at Erie

Erie city workers finish the Neosho River low water dam south of town. City Superintendent James White reports completion early Monday after a Sept 1 start. Battery thefts reported from farms north of town

Police reported thefts of a tractor battery from Wendell Erickson’s barn two miles north on Plummer and a fence charger from the Barnquist brothers farm 30 miles north on Plummer. The charger valued at 25 dollars. Another battery theft involved six junk batteries taken from Dean Kepley’s shop.

Multiple Minor Traffic Collisions Reported Across City

The Highway Patrol cited Ralph B. Gould of Winfield for failure to reduce speed after a 4:45 p.m. rear collision on US 169 with James F. E. Schlotman of Independence.
