Housing Authority Wins Zoning Exceptions for Elderly High Rise

The Chanute Housing Authority won two zoning exceptions Wednesday night enabling a proposed elderly high rise. The board also moved to seek city action to limit street parking near Steuben and Garfield at Walnut. Assistant city engineer Michael Bailey supported the plan.

Suit Settled for $8 Million in Mullendore Case

A Georgia insurer agreed to pay 8 million dollars to the widow of Oklahoma rancher E. C. Mullendore III in a federal suit over three 5 million policies. Doll clothes thwart armed thief at Hutchinson liquor store

An elderly liquor store owner in Hutchinson Kansas thwarted an armed robber when the plastic bag he escaped with held only doll clothes and gifts. The woman screamed and fled after the masked thief demanded money, grabbing the bag during the struggle.

Puppy gifts offered as Chanute Humane Society shelters eight pups
