The Neosho Valley Coyote Hunters Assn said the season begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with a hunt starting at St. Paul and possibly more Sunday hunts. Shotguns only may be used and all hunters are invited.
Spokane reports a B52 bomber crashed during takeoff at Fairchild Air Force Base. Eight airmen perished including Col. Clarence A. Neely. Sgt. Gene I Graye survived with minor injuries. The jet fueled aircraft erupted in flames, no atom bomb details confirmed.
The R H Fulton Pipeline Co plans temporary headquarters here with 35 to 40 trailer spaces 12 to 15 apartments and 20 sleeping rooms for about 100 workers. The shift from Lola to Neodesha will last at least 30 days and the chamber will catalog available spaces for the move.

City and county officials acquire a radio for the State Highway Patrol to enable direct communication. The unit, costing $250 for the city and $250 for the county, will be installed in a patrol car and used on the city county frequency. It improves tornado alert coordination with the highway patrol. It was ordered around November 1.
A stretch of pleasant conditions is forecast across Kansas for the rest of the week. Daytime highs are expected in the 55 to 60 range with nightly lows around the 20s to 30s, and some high cloudiness noted. By early next week colder air and possible snow are anticipated as a five day outlook shifts. Garden City reached 66 while Dodge City and Cedar Bluff Dam posted 64, Olathe hit 41, and overnight lows ranged from 20 to 31 across the state.
A gas pressure gauge was installed today at the police department to monitor town gas pressure. Three other gauges are in use, with this one to be inspected daily by the water and gas department. The gauge shows line pressure around six to eight ounces.
President Eisenhower in high spirits plans to fly to Paris for the NATO heads of state conference. Eight aides accompany him including Lewis Strauss and James Killian with John S. Eisenhower as personal aide and Gen. Howard Snyder as physician. Mrs. Eisenhower remains at home.
Elmer Maxwell, a Princeton farmer, credits his lead horse Dolly with saving his life after a broken leg left him stranded in 20 degree weather. He was dragged a quarter mile toward home and then rode Dolly the remaining half mile, hoping his team would return for his family. Dolly’s quick decision and guidance kept him alive.

Cities Service Gas Co of Oklahoma City seeks authority to abandon Petrolia 6,300 hp compressor station north of Chanute Kansas and other engines in Texas Oklahoma and Kansas. It plans to build a 7,000 hp unit in Montgomery County Kansas and 30 and 26 inch lines totaling 24 miles. Basic goal is to supply Elk City storage on peak days with deliveries rising to 521 million cu ft in 1959 60.
A fire at the Prospect Post Office in Louisville stalled only briefly as volunteer firefighters contained the blaze. Postmaster Harold Skaggs and staff returned to sorting mail after 30 minutes, continuing the Christmas rush despite smoke and heat.
