An unidentified man was killed when a car missed a curve and hit a utility pole on U S 40 east of Solomon. Sheriff Wayne Woolverton said the victim was likely a hitchhiker. The driver Thomas Burre of Smoky Hill Air Force Base Salina was injured and taken to Smoky Hill hospital. It was Dickinson County's 14th fatality of the year.
