A 24 year old Michigan man, Gerald Wayne Morton, was arrested near Chanute about 1 0 p.m. yesterday after a liquor store robbery in Iola and a car theft from Arbuckle garage. Morton admitted the crimes and faces first degree robbery and car theft charges with arraignment set in Iola.

Driver Arrested on DWI and Reckless Driving Charges
A. J. Newhart of Tulsa was arrested at 1 10 a m today on driving while intoxicated and reckless driving charges. He posted a 150 bond and was released for a 4 p m hearing next Thursday after refusing a blood alcohol test. Officers say the arrest occurred about a mile south of Chanute on US 169 following observed city driving.
