Patrolmen Johnny Leroy and Clifford McCoy killed four of five escaped foxes at Art Rule's fox farm as ice and sleet covered roads. Two traffic accidents were reported: Charlene Brennecke’s car overturned in a ditch on US 169 and Reverend H A Simmons’s car overturned injuring his wife. Six Student Nurses Die In Patterson Accident
Six student nurses aged 19 and 20 were killed when their car skidded on Route 22 near Patterson New York and collided with a milk tank truck. The victims were senior students from St Marys Hospital Brooklyn en route to Harlem Valley State Hospital Wingdale for a 12 week psychiatric nursing training.

Injuries From Accidents On Slick Roads Near Chanute
Mrs. H A Simmons of 405 E Chestnut suffered a fractured collar bone eight broken ribs and shock after a 1952 Buick skidded on ice five miles north of Chanute on US 169. Her husband Rev H A Simmons was uninjured. Mrs Brennecke of Moran sustained a head bump when her daughter Charlene Sue Brennecke lost control of a 1956 Chevrolet and overturned north of Chanute. Both women received minor injuries. both vehicles were damaged. Troopers Art Jensen and Duane Houck investigated. Both parties were taken to Chanute for treatment.
