Navy pilot survives four engine failure emergency flight
Lt. Cmdr. L. W. Hansen, a 41 year old Navy pilot and Cornell graduate, safely landed a four engine transport at Moffett Field after one engine failed and oil pressure warning lights failed. Flying 900 miles with one engine out and one at reduced power, the crew of 51 servicemen was aided by Coast Guard rescue escorts before landing. Hansen resides in Mountain View after a reassignment from Norfolk.
