The Chanute zoning ordinance becomes effective in ten days after today’s Tribune publication. It zones the city into four districts R1 for single and two family dwellings R2 for multiple dwelling and hotels and a general business and industrial district. A zoning officer and a five member board of zoning appeals are created. The ordinance lists thirty two businesses allowed in the B2 area and requires permits for new construction changes in structures and interior alterations. Penalties include fines from ten to five hundred dollars per offense with daily violations counted separately. The board may approve special locations for industries that may produce smoke dust odor or visual impact. Meetings are public and open on call of the chairman. Records indicate zoning work dates back to the 1930s with prior attempts.

Three Men Injured In Car Train Collision Dorado Crossing
EL DORADO Three El Dorado men were injured last night when their car collided with a freight train at a crossing in Dorado. C. L. Hagan 47 suffered compound fractures of the right leg and hip hand injuries and facial cuts and was in fair condition at an El Dorado hospital Dana Barrier 31 had a fractured nose and facial cuts and Thomas McClernon 24 suffered head and face lacerations and a fractured nose.

Knife Wounds Fatal To Emporia Worker
