After three months of semi rest local school buildings reopen this morning for 2 925 students across Neosho County Community Junior College high school junior high and grade schools plus St Patrick s parish schools Kindergarten and special education start Sept 7 Total enrollment totals 307 for NCCC and related programs Chanute High 574 Royster Junior High 563 and elementary grades one through six 1 250 St Patrick s grade school 153 and Catholic junior high 78 The new Unified School District 413 bus system carried about 340 rural students on seven routes with 5 buses and 2 station wagons reporting smooth operation apart from one carburetor trouble and plans to publish adjustments in The Tribune Wednesday

Salute to Businessmen Theme at 4-H Club Picnic

Neosho county 4-H clubs host a second annual family picnic at 6 30 p m tomorrow at the National Guard armory. Theme is Businessmen We Salute You. Fred DeLano says the event thanks supporters of 40 4-H members. A larger turnout than last year is expected with displays from county fair projects and Mary Neely in charge of a short program after the meal. 4 H families, businessmen, boosters and 4 H families will attend. food provided by 4 H families, guests to bring table service.

Injuries Reported in Fall from Pickup in Neosho

Gideon Thomas, 63, of 520 S. Grant, admitted to Neosho Memorial Hospital after falling from the back of a pickup on Central and 4th about 3:40 p.m. He grabbed a table leg to steady himself, it broke, and he hit his head. Kenneth Naughton, 26, was driving. Thomas and Naughton were moving household items when the accident occurred.

Two break-ins were reported to police today. At the Berthot Planing Mill 106 N Ashby only pennies and Canadian nickels were missing from a cash register pried open but not locked. At a oil lease northeast of town tools were taken from a mobile tool house including five small wrenches two large Crescent wrenches vise grips two large screwdrivers and a padlock from the tool house door.
