Members of Neosho County's Best Yet Club will appear on KOAM TV at 5 p.m. Tuesday to promote the Neosho County Fair in Erie opening tomorrow for a four day run. Betty Poor, Chanute, queen of the fair, will be shown riding a horse during some events, program officials said.
The all clear was sounded for the east coast and Bermuda as Hurricane Edith shifts to a north-northeast course. Winds hold at 80 to 85 mph over open sea while the storm maintains a slow forward pace of eight mph but is expected to speed up later today or tonight.
At Panmunjom, the United Nations Command agreed to reduce the truce inspection teams in Korea and called for ending the inspection setup as the sole solution to Communist obstructions and frustrations after the Reds had already consented.
Reported today amid renewed Gaza frontier fighting six people were killed yesterday. Four Egyptian Vampire jets crossed east of Rafah into Israel near the Gaza Sinai junction and one Egyptian plane was hit by gunfire from pursuing Israeli aircraft. An Israeli spokesman confirmed Egyptian incursions were driven back.
Curtiss Roney, son of Mr and Mrs Lyle Roney of Okmulgee Oklahoma, is ill with polio at Wesley Hospital Wichita. He and his family were visiting his maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs R D Scott of the Banner neighborhood when symptoms appeared. He was reported improved over the weekend.
In El Paso a 90 mm shell exploded during a family picnic, killing Velma Morales 4, George Valdez 6, and Riccardo Lujan 10, with ten others injured including 4 year old Hector Ramirez who lost both legs. Police said the shell was probably a dud kept for months. father Carlos Valdez built the fire.
A chain of blasts rocked a strikebound National Minerals & Chemical plant in Mulberry Florida early today damaging the control room and injuring no one. A guard at another plant on the same company premises reported six shots fired during his rounds. The six-plant operation employs about 1,200 union workers. processing plants had reopened August 8 with supervisory staff.
SEDALIA Mo The 58th annual Missouri State Fair closed after nine days with a new total attendance of 641 145 visitors. The prior record was 497 317 set last year.

Four-car chain collision at Main and Lincoln involved O Trean, Charles Petty, Wayne Bryant and Ralph Edwards. Edwards cited for reckless driving. Another collision in East Main injured bumper and bumper areas involving Robert Dean Ellis and Charles Larson.
Eugene Hiatt contested a continued hearing before the State Civil Service Board after two members were ousted by the governor. With only one member present, Hiatt said the 45 day deadline for a hearing applies, aiming for a date by Sept 9 to subpoena witnesses and records. Witnesses appeared and questioned Kuiken regarding Hiatt’s dismissal, while Hiatt’s attorneys accused the governor of seeking delays to steer the case.
Sam R Stacy 65 former Chanute fire chief died of a heart attack driving on US 169 near the MFA refinery area Saturday afternoon. He was found in his car after it swerved and traveled 100 feet along the highway. He was pronounced dead at Neosho Memorial Hospital. Survived by wife Minnie Beaver Stacy daughter Bettie Luckett and stepfather C M Griffith. Funeral at Wilson Johnson chapel Wednesday with Rev Judd Jones officiating. Burial in Chanute.
