Chanute's Kansas National Guard unit Battery B of the 297th Field Artillery Battalion and nearby Southeast Kansas units head home today from Camp McCoy. Mayor Lightfoot and City Manager Cooper had said the battery would arrive this evening after breaking camp Friday morning. The battalion trained 15 days, main body by train with detail units in a motor caravan. American Cancer Society Rooms at 12442 W. Main will be open Thursday afternoon to receive dressings.
