Missing Chanute man found safe after long search

David Brown, 90, of Neosho County, was missing since 10:30 a.m. Monday. A large coordinated search by family, sheriff deputies, Kansas Highway Patrol, and CB radio volunteers located him about a mile north of the Splane home near Hillside Road. He was tired but in good spirits and returned to his trailer with help.

City approves low bid for new public works complex

Chanute city commissioners accepted Steve Williams Construction Tulsa bid of 433310 for the $512000 public works and utilities complex after revisions to the architect's estimate and bid. The move follows a July 26 bid of 441850 and a revised estimate of 444335, with funding gaps covered by general funds.

Kansas Park Authority to review rangerette program after two rangerette murders

The Kansas Park and Resources Authority will evaluate its rangerette program at the Sept. 25 Glen Elder Reservoir meeting after the murder of a second rangerette in two years.
