Crash Near Coffeyville Claims Edna Woman
A two car crash 13 miles east of Coffeyville, Kansas, killed Nora McCord, 54, of Edna, and injured five others. Marion QC. Olson, 51, of Shawnee Kansas was crushed when a 40 foot pipe 26 inches in diameter weighing 3120 pounds fell during a loading operation at a Cities Service Gas Co pumping station. He and other workers prepared to hoist it onto a truck.

Eight people died in a head on collision near Hooper Colorado on Highway 17 just before midnight. The car driver Audrey Eileen Cole of Grants New Mexico and Harriett Charlene Martin 20 of Grants died along with six unidentified children aged 10 or younger. Two truck occupants Floyd Hogan 35 of Bentley Oklahoma and Charles Louis Robinson 37 of Climax Colorado were injured. One child in the car survived with head and arm injuries.

Ninety one head of fat stock were auctioned as the sixth annual Junior Fat Stock Sale concluded the four day fair. The Grand Champion pig brought 12778.53 with Erie buyers including Erie Grain and First National Bank of Thayer. The Grand Champion steer, owned by Kay George of Erie, sold for 370.30 with multiple Erie buyers. Two Are Asphyxiated While Cleaning Cistern in Kansas
