Members of the Chanute boys baseball team that placed fourth in the State Elks Midget tournament traveled to Kansas City to see the Kansas City A's and Chicago White Sox game. The White Sox won 6 to 5. Twenty boys aged 12 to 14 went with four organizers. The trip stemmed from the Elks Club and included players from the Veterans of Foreign Wars program.

Texan Dies After Found Along Highway Near Topeka
In Topeka a 49 year old Texan man William H. McFadden of Uvalde died in a local hospital after being found along U S Highway 75 about 15 miles south of Topeka with multiple fractures. Police say he may have been beaten or struck by a car and two men aged 50 to 60 in an old model pickup are being sought. McFadden appeared delirious and claimed he was beaten and thrown from a car, though glass fragments found on the highway suggest a hit and run.

8 Year Old Boy Drowns in Wyandotte Pond
Kansas City Kan. Deputy sheriffs report 8 year old John Raleigh Boyd drowned behind his Muncie home in Wyandotte County while likely wading for a rubber ball.
