Kansas Gov Promises To Notify More Kansans On Tax Relief

Gov. Robert Bennett announced more than 60,000 1975 homestead and renter tax relief claims have been processed in Kansas. He urged eligible seniors disabled or blind residents in nursing homes and mobile homes to apply by Oct. 15, noting five eligibility criteria including age residence ownership or rental status and income limits. County clerks or the Kansas Department of Revenue can supply forms and help.

USD 413 board approves budget and new staff

During the last summer session the USD 413 board accepted the published budget with modest increases in capital outlay and food service tied to the new hot lunch facility. The meal plan raises affect only adults, while students keep low prices. milk bids and transport costs are approved as part of the budget. New staff include Carolyn Buchanan, Marilyn Dailey, Sharon Denchfield, Steven Hartman, Earl Cassingham, Dee Goben, and Raymond Whitworth. resignations were approved for several staff members.

Dole and Taft Seek Tax Reform to End Inflationary Tax

Senators Bob Dole and Robert Taft propose an amendment to the tax reform bill to index federal income tax rates to inflation.
