Humboldt Youth Killed In Alaska
Dean Strack an 1964 Humboldt High graduate was killed near Juneau when he touched a hot wire while climbing a high tension tower to view a trail. He was 18, worked as a temporary grocery clerk in Alaska, and had been there eight weeks. He was a Humboldt football player and H-Club member, son of Earl and (Mrs.) Strack, with a brother Gary. Funeral arrangements to be announced.

Robert H. Neely 55 of Fontana California brother of Sheriff George Neely was seriously injured around 9 45 pm when a yard light shocked him from a 220 volt line causing an 18 foot fall from a ladder. He was taken to Labette County Medical Center Parsons with rib and vertebra fractures and to be transferred to Kansas City KU Medical Center. He was visiting relatives and planned to depart tomorrow.

Chanute American Legion Boerstler May Post 170 earned the 1964 Fred Bramel age Outstanding Service Award for Kansas. Post service officer Dean G. Skinner is credited with the achievement, the second time the Chanute post won the honor under Skinner. Coffeyville is the only other post to win the travelling plaque twice. The award recognizes rehabilitation service and benefits for needy veterans and families. the plaque will be presented to Skinner and the Chanute post soon.

Aerialist Dies After 85-Foot Fall At Detroit Park
