Local residents freed the animals, with both horses unharmed. Bogle Injured In Accident Involving Motorcycle and Car
Gale Bogle aged 16 of 1617 S High was in a collision with a 1953 Chevrolet driven by Carl S Russell at Cherry and Forest. He suffered head bumps and bruises but no serious injury and was treated at Neosho Memorial Hospital with negative head X-rays. Russell was crossing Cherry north as Bogle rode west. Bogle’s Harley was valued at $100. A second non injury crash at 7th and Plummer involved Marie Stipps and Lloyd Budsong with $100 damage each.

A head-on collision on U.S. 54 east of Wichita killed 2 year old Lou Tannahill of Hutchinson and Leon Inks 25 of Wichita. Baby girl dies in turnpike crash in Kansas
Lawrence AP report states two month old Marie Annette McGill was killed when a Kansas Turnpike car crashed into a guard rail. Parents Marlin W. McGill and Marjorie McGill and brother Michael Arden McGill were in critical condition at a Lawrence hospital. The family from Topeka lives near Forbes Air Force Base. Family of 3 Die In Sooner Twister
A midnight Oklahoma tornado killed a Cromwell area family of three the Brawleys and their daughter Laura Ann 22. The twister carved a half mile wide path from Anadarko to Oklahoma City area, causing widespread damage in Pocasset Tuttle and the state capital with two homes destroyed and roofs torn from many structures. Loyd Walters died when his house suffered wind damage.

Minor Hail Causes Some Glass Damage and Lightning Effects
Widespread hail in the area last night caused minor damage. The D. E. Palmer residence at 1801 S. Ashby reported broken greenhouse panes, mostly on the west side. A family car had two cracked glasses and a lightning strike at 8 to 8:30 damaged a fixture and tree. Sheriff Jerry Sloan noted hail in Erie with no further reports.
